Account Setup

Create your GTIN1 account, choose how you sign in, and get familiar with your personal dashboard.

Creating Your Account

To get started, visit gtin1.com/authentication/signup/ and enter your email address. GTIN1 uses email-based accounts - no username or password is required.

After submitting your email, you will receive a 6-character sign-in code. Enter the code on the verification screen to complete account creation.

Already have a Google account?

You can skip the email verification step entirely by signing up with Google. See Sign in with Google below.

Authentication Methods

GTIN1 supports two ways to sign in. Both are passwordless.

Sign-in Code

GTIN1 uses passwordless authentication. Each time you sign in, a one-time code is sent to your email address.

  1. Go to the login page at gtin1.com/authentication/login/ and enter your email address.
  2. Click Continue with email.
  3. Check your inbox for a 6-character code - it is valid for 15 minutes.
  4. Enter the code on the verification screen. You have up to 5 attempts before a new code is required.

Sign in with Google

Click Continue with Google on the login or signup page. GTIN1 requests only your profile and email address from Google - no other data is accessed.

If you already have a GTIN1 account with the same email, your Google account is automatically linked. Future sign-ins can use either method.

Note

Apple relay email addresses (those ending in privaterelay.appleid.com) cannot be used for social account linking.

Your Profile

After signing in, visit Profile from the user menu to update your personal information:

Field Description
Full name Your display name across the platform
Phone Optional contact phone number

Your email address is managed through the authentication settings and cannot be changed directly from the profile page.

Preferences

GTIN1 lets you set dietary and allergen preferences that enhance your experience when viewing products. Go to Preferences from the user menu to manage them.

Preferences are personal to your account. You can add new preferences by selecting a definition (such as an allergen or dietary restriction) and choosing a disposition - for example, marking a particular allergen as one you want to avoid.

To remove a preference, click the delete button next to it.

The Dashboard

Your personal dashboard at gtin1.com/dashboard/ is the home screen after you sign in. It gives you a consolidated view of your activity and alerts.

My Products

Products you have claimed or saved appear here. Claiming a product associates it with your account for ongoing tracking. Saving a product bookmarks it for quick access later. The dashboard shows up to 10 products at a time.

Recent Scans

The last 10 products you scanned are listed with links to their product pages. This makes it easy to return to an item you recently looked at.

Alerts

The dashboard surfaces two types of alerts when they affect your products:

  • Active recalls - any product you own or follow that has an active recall notice.
  • Expiring soon - lot-tracked products with expiration dates within the next 30 days.

Organizations and Brands

If you are a member of any organizations, the dashboard lists them along with the brands they manage. Click an organization name to go to its management dashboard.

Scan History

Visit History from the user menu to see a complete log of every product you have scanned. From this page you can:

  • Browse all past scans, ordered by most recent
  • Save or unsave any scanned product for quick access from your dashboard

Scan history is also available to unauthenticated users on a session basis. Once you sign in, your history is tied to your account and available across devices.

Next Steps

Now that your account is ready, the next step is to create an organization where you will manage your brands and products.
