Overview¶

GTIN1 supports sustainability data management aligned with emerging regulations including the EU Digital Product Passport (DPP) and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes. Attach environmental data to your products and make it accessible through the same GS1 Digital Link QR code used for product identification.

Recyclability Assessment¶

Assess and record the recyclability of your products and packaging using standardized assessment standards. GTIN1 supports multiple recyclability assessment frameworks and stores results at the trade item level.

Substances of Concern¶

Track substances of concern (SoC) present in your products as required by EU ESPR regulations. Record substance identifiers, concentrations, and applicable regulatory thresholds.

Environmental Impact Data¶

Store and surface environmental impact information:

Carbon footprint data
Energy efficiency ratings
Recycled content percentages
Environmental certifications

Digital Product Passport Readiness¶

GTIN1's sustainability features are designed to support the data requirements of the EU Digital Product Passport:

Product composition and materials data

All sustainability data is accessible through the GS1 Digital Link resolver, making it available to consumers, regulators, and supply chain partners who scan the product's QR code.
